"Rebel Heart" is out everywhere now and Madonna's latest album has already scored the highest chart positions around the world. The Queen's 13th studio album debuted at #1 in Australian ARIA Album Chart becoming her 11th number one album in the Land Down Under and 4th in a row.
"Rebel Heart" reached number one also in Spain, Germany, Canada, Italy and several other territories. Unfortunately in the US and the UK the album did not debut at #1 but at #2. In America despite being the best selling album of the week with approximately 121,000 copies sold (which is much less than "MDNA" which in 2012 opened with 359,000 copies) "Rebel Heart" debuted at #2 behind the "Empire" soundtrack which made it to #1 on Billboard 200 owing to streaming and singles sales (according to the latest policy of "Billboard" now counted together with physical and digital album sales). In the UK "Rebel Heart" also made its debut at #2, held back from the top position by Sam Smith.
As for "Living For Love," the single's only number one position was in "Billboard"'s Dance Club Songs, it did not manage to make the cut into the Hot 100 list. In the UK, due to big promotion (and despite ostensibly not being played by certain radio stations) it peaked at #26 becoming Madonna's 71st Top Forty single in Britain. "Living For Love" peaked at #92 in Canada and #40 in Germany. Let's hope the second single "Ghosttown" will enjoy more airplay and climb high in the charts.
